From the first day of his law practice, Cal Warriner has specialized in civil trial law. He gained invaluable, early experience defending general tort and medical malpractice cases. In 1988 Chris Searcy offered Cal a position to work directly for him. Cal immediately accepted and has been with the firm ever since. He was elected a shareholder in 1991.
Cal's trial experience at Searcy Denney has paved the way for him to be honored as a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar as well as the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He also has attained Diplomate status with the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. He has been named one of South Florida's Top Civil Trial Lawyers for the past five years by the South Florida Legal Guide.
During his twenty plus years of prosecuting and defending civil lawsuits, Cal has gained experience in many areas of the law including; product liability, medical negligence, semi-tractor-trailer accidents, railroad disasters, airplane crashes, defective drug and mass tort actions. Handling these cases has exposed him to disabling injuries of virtually every kind including traumatic brain injury, paralysis, spinal cord injury, loss of bodily function, loss of sight, amputation and many others. He has gained a vast knowledge of medicine and understands how disabling injuries can be as well as how they can destroy families. He also has the unfortunate benefit of having learned to understand a family's grief upon the loss of a loved one.
Cal has served his fellow lawyers through membership on the Florida Bar Civil Procedure Rules Committee (two terms), Young Lawyers Board of Governors (two terms and as secretary) and the Fifteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission (Chairman).
Cal is fortunate to work at a firm that is committed to serving the needs of injured mothers, fathers, husbands, wives and children. Searcy Denney has both staying power and the extensive resources necessary to take on large corporate wrongdoers. The firm enjoys the prestige that comes with having three of its partners serve as President of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers. Searcy Denney has the staff necessary to make each client feel as though their case is special and being aggressively prosecuted.
Being a lifelong Florida resident and having handled cases in virtually every Florida county Cal knows Florida, especially Palm Beach County and south Florida. Those strong ties extend to his wife and three children all of whom were born in Florida. Cal received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida.
